It may seem that these questions are basic but they do have a\ngreat impact on your life. Being clear on who you are means that you know your\nstrengths and weaknesses. If you\u2019re clear on who you are, you also know for\nsure what is valuable for you. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If someone asked you, \u201cWhere do you see yourself ten years\nfrom now?\u201d do you have an immediate answer? High performers can answer that\nquestion easily and confidently. That is because they have a clear idea of what\nthey want to become. They have a well thought of idea for their future self and\nthey are working towards it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>High performers plan around the skill set they want to\nmaster. They do not settle as generalists. They want to be specialists. For\nexample, if a high performer is interested in music, he does not try to learn\nevery instrument. He focuses on a single one. He would look for an expert\nteacher and practice hard. <br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Habit 2 <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Generate Energy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Brendon Burchard found out in his research that senior\nexecutives and CEOs possess the highest energy. They are the most energized in any\ncompany. The energy level of senior executives and CEOs can be compared to the\nenergy level of pro athletes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Do not wait for something to bring you joy, excitement,\nmotivation or love. All those positive emotions can start from you. It is\npossible to generate high energy when you choose too. You can generate positive\nemotions anytime you need it. In order to do so, you can follow these steps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first one is \u201cRelease Tension, Set Intention\u201d. Brendon\nBurchard has coached many high performers. He worked closely with them. He\nobserved that the cause of low energy among CEOs and other high performers is\npoor transition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What is transition? It is when you change from one task to\nanother. The moment you get up from bed is a transition. You shift from sleep\nmode to work mode. You take a bath and prepare yourself. Maybe, you get your\nkids ready for school. You take the public transport and arrive to your office.\nThose are more transitions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, imagine that in one of your meetings, you had a\nconflict with your boss or colleague. After that, you have to do more paperwork\non your desk. You may pass on the negative energy to your next tasks. If you\ndon\u2019t take a break, you will feel worse as you go through your day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You lose your presence of mind. When you get home to your\nfamily, it may be that you will have no energy left to appreciate them. To avoid\nthis from happening, you need to release tension. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before you move on to your next task, try to take a little\nrest. You can relax and close your eyes for a couple of minutes. Just focus on\ntaking deep breaths. Once you have released the tension, you can start setting\nintention. Think of the task you\u2019re doing next. What do you want to achieve? How\ncan you do it with positivity? <br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Habit 3<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Raise Necessity<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Raise necessity means to always feel the need to take action.\nYou have to wake up every morning. You have to fulfil all your\nresponsibilities. You have to perform well. If you raise necessity, you don\u2019t\nhope for the best or wish things to get better. You feel the need to act. You\nfeel the need to do something. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Necessity compels you to move. If you don\u2019t, you feel like\nyou let yourself down. You are not meeting your own standards. You fail to\naccomplish your duties and obligations. Necessity is a stronger motivation. It\ncreates urgency in you. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brendon Burchard often asks these questions to high\nperformers. \u201cWhy do you work so hard? How do you remain focused and committed?\nBrendon always gets the same answers. High performers tell him that it\u2019s just\npart of who they are. They cannot imagine being something else. They feel like\nit is what they\u2019re meant to do. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Habit 4<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Increase Productivity<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Are there times at work when you are very busy yet you feel\nlike you\u2019re not progressing? The reason might be that what you are working on,\nwhat you are busy with, isn\u2019t really in line with who you are. You may be\noccupied doing something that you don\u2019t really want or something that doesn\u2019t\nmatch with your abilities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Have you ever been sick because of too much stress at work? It\nis possible to be productive without compromising your health or well-being. Many\nhigh performers can prove that. They work hard yet they do not feel stressed. High\nperformers find happiness and fulfilment amidst all their responsibilities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is a way to be more productive while taking good care\nof yourself and your loved ones. That is what you will learn from this habit. You\ndo not need to be a superhuman or to over-caffeinate to do more. Just follow\nthese practices. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first one is to \u201cIncrease the Outputs that Matter\u201d. Do\nyou always organize your e-mails at work? Studies have shown that people waste\n28% of their office hours just sorting through their emails. Using the search\nfunction is more efficient than creating sub folders. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You are not doing real work when you\u2019re managing your\nemails. You are not being productive either when you clear up files, attend\nmeetings or help with a colleague\u2019s false emergency. You can influence people even if\nyou\u2019re an introvert. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You may think that it\u2019s entirely impossible for you to\ninfluence people. But maybe you just forget to ask. There are people out there\nwho will be willing to help you. It\u2019s just that you fear rejection or judgement.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How can you test your influence if you don\u2019t ask something\nfrom your co-workers first? \u201cYou never know until you ask\u201d. Try to make a\nrequest to your child, partner, friend or boss. If you failed the first time,\ndon\u2019t just quit. Eventually, you will get better at speaking up. And the people\naround you will get familiar with your ideas. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are more practices so you can develop more influence. The\nfirst one is to Teach People How to Think. Imagine that you have a 7-year-old\nson. He is working on his math homework. Later, on you notice him getting\nfrustrated. He says, \u201cI hate math\u201d. What would you do?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can influence the way he thinks about math. You have an\nopportunity to direct his thoughts. You can help him change his thinking so\nthat he can improve and even enjoy math. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brendon Burchard advises his high level clients to\ncommunicate with their people. They have the ability to direct how the\nemployees think about their selves. Leaders should also direct how the\nemployees think about the competitors and the marketplace as a whole. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That is what separates high performing managers from the\nrest. They take the opportunity to influence their people to think big. Imagine\nthat you are one. It means making the\nmove to begin change. To demonstrate courage, you do not need to do something\nground-breaking. Even a small deed can make a huge impact. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mark Twain once said, \u201cCourage is not fearlessness; it is\ntaking action and persisting despite that fear.\u201d What are the practices you can\ndo to demonstrate courage?
